Carlo Capua is co-founder and operator of Z's Café, a social enterprise partnership with local nonprofit Samaritan House. Over the past 7 years, Z’s Café has put 100 low-income men and women back to work, helping them build self-esteem and job skills to return to the workforce with dignity and respect.
As part of Z’s Café’s Kitchen Incubator Program, Carlo uses his experience in the food business to mentor over 200 small businesses, giving guidance to aspiring bakers, caterers, food trucks, and personal chefs. Many of them rent his kitchen at a discounted rate as a stepping stone toward creating their own sustainable business model.
As co-founder of Food 4 Life Catering, Carlo developed a business plan to serve private schools daily lunch meals, grossing over $1 million annually. He sold his equity interest in 2015.
A 2000 business school graduate of Texas Christian University, Carlo received his degree in Business Marketing with a minor in Japanese.
After graduation, Carlo spent 7 years teaching English in Fort Worth’s Sister Cities in both Japan and Mexico, and often speaks to students on world cultures, global affairs and social entrepreneurship. His work in Swaziland, Southern Africa has helped build the bridge between two cultures and implement the construction of a health center in a rural area of the country. Carlo has been to 19 countries and speaks fluent Spanish and Japanese.
He has completed 15 full marathons and an Ironman Triathlon.
Carlo serves on the boards of Fort Worth Sister Cities, Texas Health Resources Specialty Hospital, and Rotary Club of Fort Worth. He is the president-elect of the TCU National Alumni Board.
